About Dialysis:
Dialysis is a procedure performed when the kidneys fail to effectively remove waste products, excess fluids, and toxins from the body.

How Dialysis is Performed:

There are two types of dialysis:

1. Haemodialysis:

In this procedure, the patient’s blood is brought to the dialysis machine through an AV fistula or catheter. The patient’s blood is returned to the patient after the removal of waste products, excess fluid, and toxins through the dialysis machine.

Typically, dialysis is performed two to three times a week, with each session lasting approximately three to four hours.

2. Peritoneal Dialysis:

It is another type of dialysis process. In this process, patients must insert a tube (Catheter) inside the abdomen. Through this tube dialysis solution is put inside the abdominal cavity. Peritoneal which acts as a filter and removes all waste products, extra fluid and toxins from the body through this dialysis solution. These waste products and extra fluid come out from the body through the tube once to twice daily. Then again, we need to put fresh dialysis solution inside the abdomen again. And this process will continue every day.

This process patients can do by themselves at home.
